both those who passed the Kent Test and those who were were given a selective assessment after the Headteacher Assessment (see following news item). The high number of out of county passes does not reflect the much smaller number taking up places in Kent grammar school - for 2012 entry there were just 277 of these allocated places in March, including 170 from Bexley and Bromley, mainly going into the four Dartford grammar schools.
There are currently 4545 grammar school places available in Kent for next year's Year 7 intake, although this number will increase as a result of appeals and perhaps some schools expanding unilaterally as happened for 2012 entry. However, the spaces may be in the wrong places and there is no automatic right to attend a grammar school in your home area. To find out pressure on places you may wish to look at the Individual School section for Kent secondary schools on this website, and several news items written between March and June which you will find in this section.
